Intuitive Eating

Snacks!

We love them, and yet, why do we sometimes attach guilt to them?

Our dietician, Suzie Cromwell served up a masterclass on intuitive eating at our recent community event. Intuitive eating is a “self-care eating framework rooted in science and supported by clinical experience”.

Intuitive eating was created by two dieticians and helps us break away from diet culture and shame and reconnect ourselves to our… intuition?

We are fans of science, wellness and anything that keeps us lapping ‘top to bottom’ on Whistler Mountain.

Ready to work on your relationship with food? Intuitive eating might be a good fit and Suzie is the perfect person to navigate that with.

Suzie Cromwell

Registered Dietitian & Certified Diabetes Educator.

She works virtually every Friday.

Intuitive eating shifts our focus to a way of eating that accepts all foods and rejects diet culture, and all those rules that tell us when, what, or how much to eat. And, instead helps us to relearn how to trust our body and tune into our own unique internal biological hunger and fullness cues.

Q: I'm familiar with the concept of mindful eating. How is intuitive eating different?

A: Intuitive eating incorporates principles of mindful eating, but it takes things a step further. We're addressing cognitive distortions, otherwise put, our faulty beliefs that we might have around food. Intuitive eating goes deeper and addresses emotional eating.

Suzie's Scope:

  • Sports optimization

  • Autoimmune

  • Fertility

  • Gastrointestinal

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • Celiac Disease

Side effects of intuitive eating include improvement of self-esteem, body image, and overall quality of life while experiencing less depression and anxiety.

Suzie’s passion is to motivate clients in making realistic and sustainable healthy diet changes to better suit their needs. She is committed to helping individuals meet their nutritional goals by working closely with them to optimize their health, prevent and manage chronic disease while improving their quality of life.
